EV Online Learning
Assessments

Part of the Learning Process
EV Online Learning incorporates various types of assessments throughout the learning process. Assessments are used to guide learning, let students demonstrate mastery, and to see if students are making overall progress in key skills areas.
Cumulative
When most people think of assessment they think of testing; a cumulative summing up of what a student knows and doesn’t know. This type of assessment is usually at the end of the learning unit and often marks the end of the learning.
Formative
EV Online Learning uses more assessments in a more formative manner, where students can be assessed for current knowledge and skills. This type of assessment provides information on what lessons can be skipped, and what areas need to be given more attention. This type of assessment helps “form” the class for each student.
Mastery
Students need to demonstrate mastery of the concepts in each lesson. If the lesson assessment suggests that the student did not master the concepts, then the student is provided more opportunity to learn that lesson – either by repeating the lessons, accessing additional instructive material, or receiving extra help from the core subject specialist, or from the mentor.
